Government of Canada launches first mobile linguistic application

The Government of Canada’s first mobile linguistic application: on the go!

The Translation Bureau is pleased to announce the launch of on the go!, the Government of Canada’s first mobile linguistic application. This new mobile application allows iPhone and BlackBerry users to consult the Language Portal of Canada’s flagship product: TERMIUM Plus®, the Government of Canada’s terminology and linguistic data bank. With on the go!, users can find equivalents anytime, anywhere for nearly 4 million English and French terms in various fields. Like the Portal, on the go! makes it easier to communicate in both of Canada’s official languages.

The launch of on the go! coincides with the third anniversary of the Language Portal of Canada. That’s right—this website showcasing Canadian expertise in the area of language is already three years old! For three years now, Canadians have enjoyed free access to high-quality language resources that help them study, work and communicate effectively in both official languages.

The on the go! mobile application is available free of charge in both English and French. An Internet connection is required for use. To download the application or for more information, please consult or contact the Translation Bureau at We encourage you to spread the word about this new application by sharing the page—or even this article—with family, friends and colleagues.

Whether you’re in a meeting, at a conference, at the library, at a bus stop or in a taxi, finding the right words has never been easier!
