Congratulations to all the parents and students of the French Immersion program in the Swan River Valley. I am so very thrilled the program withstood it's challenging beginnings and has grown and thrived, thus offering students the wonderful opportunity of learning a second language. In 1982/83 my husband and I and our 3 children moved to Swan River from Winnipeg. I believed in educational opportunities for our children (yours and mine)and I was able to get enough parents to sign a petition to have a combined kindergarten and grade 1 class of french immersion students. Those first students had to go north to Birch River river to school because the school board didn't allow them to use the rooms that were available. Those parents and students stuck it out and I am so proud of all of you that you are now celebrating 30 years of French language education. It will be an asset to you more times throughout your life than you might think! Awesome!!
