Survey: Exploring the Relationship Between Mindfulness and Second Language Teaching

How has the COVID-19 pandemic affected your teaching and yourself as a teacher? Are you using or would you like to use mindfulness practices (e.g., breathing, meditation, and relaxation techniques) in your teaching? Take part in a 10- to 15-minute survey to help inform a study on this topic.

The study is being conducted by Alba Fano-Trabanco (), a PhD candidate in Applied Linguistics at the University of Calgary, under the supervision of Dr. Mary O’Brien () and Dr. Angela George (). It has been approved by the University of Calgary Conjoint Faculties Research Ethics Board (REB20-1832).

EducLang Seminar January 27th

EducLang is holding an online seminar on Wednesday, January 27th at 4 pm EST. Gene Vasilopoulos, Doctoral Candidate at the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Education, will speak about “Working Within the Research Assemblage: Reading Plagiarism in L2 Student Digitally Mediated Writing Differently.”

No spring and summer immersion sessions at Universite Sainte-Anne in 2021

Because of the ongoing pandemic, Université Sainte-Anne will not be offering spring and summer immersion sessions in 2021. Students, teachers, and staff will have to wait at least another year to attend this much-anticipated program. “It is a necessary but difficult decision. These sessions require a significant amount of planning and logistics and with all the uncertainty because of the pandemic, it is best to cancel. Our priorities remain the health and safety of our university community and to limit the spread of the virus,” says Allister Surette, president and vice-chancellor of Université Sainte-Anne.
